High Potential Magnesium Anode Ribbon

Mag Ribbon

Magnesium anodes have the highest protection capability of any galvanic materials. While these anodes are most commonly used in a cast form, certain structures can be better protected through the use of extruded magnesium configurations. Extruded magnesium anodes have high surface and length ratios in relation to cross-sectional area. This allows these anodes to deliver a greater amount of current per weight than their cast magnesium counterparts. By supplying more current, extruded anodes can deliver effective protection to structures buried in even higher resistivity electrolytes.

Corrpro offers certified extruded magnesium anodes in ribbon form. High potential Magnesium ribbon anodes from Corrpro are available with a driving potential of -1.75 to -1.77V CSE. Corrpro ribbon anodes are manufactured in 3/8” by 3/4” flexible coils, which can be easily shaped for use on a multitude of projects. The ribbon anodes are constructed with a solid steel core, which runs lengthwise through the anodes for efficient electrical discharge.

Extruded Magnesium anodes are most suitable for structures buried or submerged in high-resistivity electrolytes. The ribbon anode issued for the protection of pipelines and storage tanks. Extruded anodes are also employed to pre-polarized offshore structures that are the be protected with Aluminum anodes.

Corrpro extruded Magnesium ribbon anodes are readily available for immediate shipment. To order the required anode for your structure, indicate that you need an extruded Magnesium ribbon anode and specify the quantity of linear feet desired. Corrpro ribbon anodes are supplied standard in 3/8” by 3/4” coils, containing 1000 feet, 240 pounds, of anode material.
